The desire for Elm work points to a much larger problem about tooling support: we have so many languages, so many platforms, and building tools is so much work (especially for low resource teaching and research teams), it’s hard to imagine ever having a lot of great infrastructure without for-profit enterprises investing in creating it. It’s a classic problem in educational technology, exacerbated in CS by our love of constantly creating new things.
