It's so complicated, isn't it? I was definitely seen as a cis man, and it still wasn't easy to speak out. So much of the friction we might experience depends on how we're seen. In my experience in men's spaces (especially the most toxic spaces), the challenge is that the only path to masculinity is escalation. There's no room for vulnerabilty or empathy, since those have been defined strictly as femme :(
